Dear Valued Clients and Friends, ![]() Bill Imhoff, President/CEO Welcome to the first issue of Intertech Flooring’s e-newsletter. This past year has been one of exciting changes at Intertech. We celebrated our 20th anniversary in 2009, growing from a small core team in Austin to four thriving locations across the state. Our latest addition to the Intertech family was made in the fall, when we acquired RWA Flooring Solutions in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. That location will continue to leverage RWA’s strong brand with the interim name RWA/Intertech Flooring, as we build awareness for Intertech there. I am excited to add this exceptional group of flooring experts to the Intertech team. For our clients in the Metroplex, watch your mail and email in coming months about new product lines coming your way as result of this expansion. Read more about the expansion. Among our goals this year is a recommitment to regular, relevant communications with the people we value the most, you. To that end, I am excited to launch this newsletter as way to keep you in the know on Intertech and industry happenings. To our valued customers, I want you to know that we have heard you – and we are making plans to reinstate this year some of those popular Intertech customer events you told us you missed! Our goal is to be the most valued and trusted resource for your commercial flooring needs. Let me know how the Intertech team and I can better meet your needs. Email me. Intertech Presents UTSA Scholarship ![]() Intertech product consultant Anne Galmor, LEED-AP, right, with 2009 scholarship recipient Elizabeth Valadez, at the presentation luncheon. Congratulations to University of Texas at San Antonio student Elizabeth Valadez. Intertech presented Valadez with its 2009 scholarship in interior design at a luncheon in November. The senior-level interior design student will be able to use the scholarship funds to attend the 2010 Neocon June 14-16 in Chicago. Intertech established the $10,000 endowed scholarship in 2002 and has presented it each year since to a student in UTSA’s College of Architecture. NeoCon is North America’s largest conference and exhibition for interior design and facilities management, drawing more than 40,000 registrants. When established, it marked the first-ever UTSA College of Architecture scholarship offered specifically for interior design students. Resources Take Advantage Maintenance and ceramic/tile flooring have long been a part of Intertech’s service offerings. Your increasing interest in those services led us to add two new seasoned professionals to our maintenance and hard-surface flooring teams recently. Dean Smart is now leading our Austin tile and ceramic flooring division. Dean brings more than 28 years of commercial flooring project management experience to his new role. Check out his bio at the Intertech website. Heading up our maintenance operations is Joe Castro, based in the Dallas office. Joe has a wealth of commercial flooring maintenance experience. He has mentored many mills to the proper procedures to correct problems they have in the field over his 30-year tenure. If you want to extend the life of your flooring investment – and do it safely and economically – Joe is the person to talk with. Contact him for an onsite assessment and customized maintenance plan for your facility. Learn more about how to keep your carpets healthy. Hats off to several Intertech clients, whose projects recently have been recognized with excellence awards. We are honored to be a part of these exceptional installations: Luminex Corporate Headquarters in Austin (Spaw Maxwell) received a 2009 AGC Austin Chapter Excellence in Construction Award. For this high-profile Austin project, Intertech incorporated top-of-the-line C&A carpet tile, welded Forbo ESD NORA rubber and Forbo linoleum. Read about this showplace in this case study. Thompson & Knight Law Offices (Constructors & Associates) in Dallas took top honors in Texas Construction’s Best of 2009 awards for best interior renovation/tenant improvement. The 180,000 sq.ft headquarters in downtown Dallas’ Arts District is seeking LEED Silver certification, a first for any law firm in Texas. Read about the project and other Best of 2009 winners in the December issue of Texas Construction. The Dell Diamond Intel Club (Chasco Constructers) received an Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated General Contractors Austin Chapter. Seton Medical Center’s Tower Addition in Austin (Rogers-O-Brien Construction) also garnered a 2009 AGC Austin Chapter Excellence in Construction Award. This six-story, 128,000 sq ft addition to the Seton Medical Center includes 30 patient rooms and new cesarean-section operating rooms. Dallas Cowboys Stadium ![]() You’ve read about it, and by now perhaps even been to your first football game in it. But RWA/Intertech Flooring’s Rocky Griffith and his project team actually played a part in creating it. At times, he says, there were more than 2,300 contractors on the ground on any given day. Like many large, complex projects, this one demanded top-quality installation on a fast-track schedule. Read about RWA/Intertech’s role in this historical project. |
