Intertech Flooring Purchases RWA Flooring Associates
(September 01, 2009 – Austin, Texas) - Intertech Flooring announced today that it has acquired Dallas/Fort Worth-based RWA Flooring Associates, a 12-year-old family-owned business with a successful track record in commercial flooring. The acquisition expands Intertech’s presence into four markets – Austin, San Antonio, Rio Grande Valley and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
While the transaction encompasses RWA Flooring’s assets and operations, Intertech expects no changes in management or associates in the former RWA location. The company will operate in the Metroplex region under the name RWA/Intertech Flooring.
RWA founder Russ White continues as RWA/Intertech chief operating officer based in the Grapevine office, while Intertech founder Bill Imhoff continues as Intertech president and CEO based in Austin.
Intertech, founded in 1988 in Austin, is a leading provider of commercial flooring products and services in Central and South Texas. The company was named to the Inc. 5000 list last year and consistently ranks among the top specialty contractors in Texas by Texas Construction magazine. It has received numerous awards for excellence in flooring installation, as well as for ethics in business and entrepreneurship.
“We have wanted to move into the Dallas-area market for some time, but it had to be the right fit, and we found it in Russ White and his team at RWA,” said Intertech President and CEO Bill Imhoff. “Russ has built an impressive business over the past dozen years, and our two companies share very similar cultures. The synergy was apparent from the very first conversations we had. Bringing the talent and expertise of these two organizations together will be very positive for clients and employees and will enable us to expand product and service offerings to better serve the region’s commercial construction sector.”
Both companies have built a reputation for green flooring expertise. Intertech received the Austin Business Journal’s first Going Green Award in 2008 for its green flooring initiatives in Central Texas. The company also employs LEED Accredited Professional flooring expertise, rare among commercial flooring companies nationwide.
“We are very excited to become part of the Intertech family,” said Russ White. “The acquisition opens up great opportunities to grow RWA/Intertech’s maintenance services, raised access flooring and modular electrical systems and tile installations in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, areas in which the Intertech team has extensive experience.
“It would have been hard to put together a better fit for these two companies,” White added. “Both organizations have a culture built on excellent customer service delivered by talented, committed teams. Our customers, vendors and employees stand to benefit.”
The Dallas/Fort Worth office employs 14, bringing Intertech’s total team to 140. Recent flooring projects in the Dallas area include the just-opened Dallas Cowboys Stadium, as well as the Hunt Oil Headquarters, the Azure luxury condominiums, Jones Lange LaSalle/Staubach Retail and the first Dallas law firm to receive LEED designation, Thompson & Knight LLP’s new LEED-Silver offices in the Dallas Arts District..
