Intertech Flooring Names Training, Safety Director

(June 5, 2008 – Austin, Texas) - Intertech Flooring announced today the appointment of Stacy Mueller as director of training and safety. In the newly created position, Mueller will oversee Intertech’s acclaimed apprenticeship program as well as workforce development and safety programs for the commercial flooring company’s three locations in Austin, San Antonio and Mission, Texas.

Mueller joins Intertech with an extensive background in operations, construction management and public safety. For the past three years, he was project manager with Sta-Mar Construction where he supervised day-to-day operations of multiple residential construction projects. Before Sta-Mar, he worked for six years as operations manager and safety director with Aggregate Haulers, a self-insured trucking company running more than 800 commercial sand/gravel trucks.

In addition, for nine years, Mueller was a K-9 patrol sergeant and narcotics officers with the El Campo Police Department.

“With Intertech’s expansion and steady growth in recent years, we needed a designated, seasoned manager who could guide and champion our employee training and safety programs,” said Intertech CEO Bill Imhoff. “Commitment to workforce training has always been an integral part of our business philosophy and we are looking forward to Stacy taking our apprenticeship and other programs to the next level.”

Intertech Flooring’s apprenticeship program is one of the only programs of its kind nationwide through which students can become journeymen flooring installers, while earning a competitive salary and gaining college credit hours toward an associate’s degree. Intertech partners with Austin Community College and St. Philip’s College in San Antonio to administer the program, and senior Intertech employees serve as instructors.
