Intertech Flooring Scholarship Awarded to UTSA Student

(May 14, 2008 - AUSTIN, Texas) -  University of Texas at San Antonio student April Rasco is recipient of the 2008 Intertech Flooring Endowed Scholarship in Interior Design.

UTSA interior design student April Rasco accepts the Intertech Flooring Endowed Scholarship in Interior Design from Pete Trevino, Intertech Flooring project manager in the San Antonio office.

Rasco is a rising junior, with plans to complete her bachelor of science in interior design in 2010. She attended Lindale High school in Tyler. Upon graduation, she hopes to work in a London-based design firm.

The $10,000 Intertech Flooring Endowed Scholarship in Interior Design annually funds a scholarship for a student in UTSA’s College of Architecture to attend the prestigious NeoCon® World’s Trade Fair held each summer in Chicago. NeoCon is North America’s largest conference and exhibition for interior design and facilities management, drawing more than 40,000 registrants.

When established in 2002, the scholarship marked the first-ever UTSA College of Architecture scholarship offered specifically for interior design students. "We wanted to create a way for aspiring interior designers to gain a deeper understanding of the commercial sector of the design business," said Intertech Flooring CEO Bill Imhoff. "As these students enter the interior design industry, their exposure to leading-edge commercial design trends will be a tremendous asset to their clients."

At NeoCon, Rasco will have an opportunity to see the latest products, interact with professional interior designers, architects and facility managers, and participate in educational seminars on industry trends.

“I'm so excited about attending NeoCon,” Rasco said. “It is an experience of a lifetime for someone still in school. I can't wait to see what new innovative products are out there. I'm incredibly grateful to Intertech Flooring for the scholarship.”
