Intertech Flooring Wins National Design Competition for Central Texas Projects

(June 13, 2005 - AUSTIN, TEXAS): For the third consecutive year, Austin and San Antonio-based commercial flooring company Intertech Flooring has received national recognition for commercial flooring design excellence. Intertech took top honors in the national StarNet Design Awards for two Central Texas projects.

StarNet, a national commercial flooring cooperative, awarded Intertech first place in the Large Corporate category for the firm’s work on the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation in Round Rock. In addition, Intertech received first place in the Unique Installation Challenge category for its work on the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union Administrative Service Center in Live Oak, Texas.

Intertech's work was selected from more than 100 flooring projects nationwide. Sharing the awards with Intertech are architect/designers Malcolm Chesney, Frederick Liedtka and Debra Babcock with Chesney, Morales Architects & Associates, Inc. for the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union; and Steven R. Janeway AIA, vice president and director of design for Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc., Dallas, for the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation project.

In its seventh year, the StarNet competition recognizes outstanding creativity in flooring design and the innovative use of floor covering in commercial interiors. Projects are judged on their creative use of flooring, flooring design concept, special challenges and how well the design met client objectives. The awards were presented April 29 at StarNet's annual meeting at Palm Springs, Calif.

StarNet Award-Randolph Brooks:
In Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union Administrative Service Center in Live Oak, Intertech Flooring incorporated the Credit Union’s logo in large room-size patterns for a dramatic and welcoming entrance in the first-floor lobby/waiting area of the 100,000-square foot space.

StarNet Award – Texas Guaranteed Student Loan:
Intertech Flooring took first place in the Large Corporate Category for its creative use of colors, design elements and textures in the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation building in Round Rock.
