AUSTIN, TEXAS (JULY 31, 2002): University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) interior design students have a new opportunity to experience the world of architecture and design, thanks to a scholarship announced today by Intertech Flooring. The $7,500 donation marks the first-ever UTSA School of Architecture scholarship offered specifically for interior design students. The Intertech Flooring Scholarship in Interior Design will be used over the next five years to send students to the prestigious NeoCon® World's Trade Fair held each summer in Chicago. NeoCon is North America's largest conference and exhibition for interior design and facilities management, this year drawing more than 40,000 registrants. "We are delighted that Intertech Flooring chose UTSA to create this special fund and unique learning opportunity for our design students," said Susan Lanford, IIDA, senior lecturer and coordinator of UTSA's Interior Design Bachelor's Degree program. "NeoCon is considered the premier event for commercial interior markets. Attending this type of national market is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our students to supplement their classroom learning with a real-world look at the commercial sector of the design industry," she said. Through the Intertech scholarship, UTSA interior design students will see the latest product introductions, interact with professional interior designers, architects and facility managers, and participate in educational seminars on industry trends. "We wanted to create a way for aspiring interior designers to gain a deeper understanding of the commercial sector of the design business," said Intertech Flooring CEO Bill Imhoff. "As these students graduate and enter the interior design industry, their exposure to leading-edge commercial design trends will be a tremendous asset to their clients." Intertech Flooring provides commercial flooring products, installation and maintenance to clients throughout Texas and the Southwest. The company's Austin office was established in 1988 and its San Antonio location is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. For
