Intertech's History
1988-
Young entrepreneur Bill Imhoff has a vision for a different
kind of flooring company - one built on long-term client relationships
forged from trust, integrity, exceptional service and the very
best people and products. Imhoff leverages his experience working
with major flooring distributors, manufacturers and contractors
to found Intertech Flooring in Austin. Many of the 12 original
employees remain an integral part of the Intertech team today.
True to its vision as a different kind of flooring company,
Intertech chooses early on to rely solely on in-house installation
teams in lieu of subcontractor labor, to ensure the highest quality
and consistency in its work. In addition, its emphasis on project
management ensures that projects are completed on time, on budget
and with total customer satisfaction. The success of the team
approach speaks for itself. The majority of Intertech's business
is from returning customers and customer referrals.
1991-
Intertech Flooring develops an Apprenticeship Program to train
its own labor force and create workforce education opportunities
for others. Certified by the US Department of Labor and administered
by Austin Community College and Saint Phillips College, this
4,000-hour program encompasses 133 classroom hours per year for
three years.

1992-
Several independent commercial flooring dealers recognize they
can strengthen resources by combining their individual capabilities
into a nationwide network. Intertech Flooring becomes one of
the founding members of that network, now known as StarNet.
Today, StarNet membership encompasses 148 independent flooring
dealers, in 230 locations across 42 states.

1992-
Intertech opens a San Antonio office to better serve the South
Texas area. The company has grown from 12 employees, to more
than 150 in two locations.

1998-
Intertech celebrates its 10-year anniversary in Austin.

2002-
Intertech funds a University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)
interior design endowment, the first of its kind at the university.
The funds will be used to send UTSA design students to the prestigious
NeoCon® World's Trade Fair held each summer in Chicago.

2003-
Intertech's Apprenticeship Program is selected as the core curriculum
for an Austin Community College two-year associate degree program,
a first in the flooring industry.
This year, Intertech also celebrates the 10-year anniversary
of the San Antonio location.

2004-
Intertech Flooring acquires the Austin and San Antonio commercial
flooring, installation and maintenance business of The Invironmentalists.
Operations are merged into Intertech's existing locations in
Austin and San Antonio.

2006-
Intertech relocates its Austin location to 1106 Smith Road,
Suite 100, to accommodate its growing staff and provide for an
expanded showroom.
